Kaye
believes an equine therapist,
like any other professional, you should be above all qualified,
ethical and honest in the appraisal of your horse. This differentiates
the equine therapist from the muscle massagers in that the difference
in your horse is obvious after the therapy has concluded. The equine
therapist will also look at the entire horse rider owner combination
(holistic approach). I am still studying and believe that the more
you learn the more you want to learn, and it becomes a humbling
experience to realise that the path of learning never stops. I teach
others, lecture and write articles constantly to assist others in
their quest to reach you and your horses' goals.
Intellectually
Knowledgeable enough to converse professionally about your
horse with veterinarians, farriers and trainers.
This will also allow you as an owner to be able to converse using
the correct terms for muscles and skeletal landmarks and their function
within the muscular skeletal system is extremely important. This
will raise your own knowledge.
Problem
Solving is also part of the Equine therapists role. An example
being: If issues with the rider which affect the horse are not addressed
then the problem will perpetuate.
Professional
Ethics is a strong part of being
an Equine Therapist. It means you are fanatical about your profession
and write for magazines, newsletters and talk to groups. Constant
communication with other horse people guarantees that people will
remember you and learn more about our ever growing relatively new
area of equine therapies. Professional ethics bind me to adhere
to a strong sense of well being and helping all horse in any discipline
to achieve their full potential.
Versatile
because I have ridden since the age of four and worked extensively
with horses since that age, I have been fortunate to learn many
techniques and therapies over my life time. I am an avid learner
and constantly renew and enhance my knowledge so I can give you
the best professional treatments. This is all part of being versatile,
not only do you get your horse assessed but because eof my knowledge
across various therapies a combination is designed for you and your
horse specific to your needs as a cooperative partnership.
